Weikertová, Štěpánka
As part of a periodical survey conducted by the CVVM from August to September 2023, selected citizens over the age of 15 were surveyed about their opinions regarding the inclusive education. Specifically, we examined views of the Czech public on whether children with physical, sensory or mental disabilities, children of foreign nationality, Roma children, children from poor or vice versa wealthy families and gifted children should be educated in mainstream classes. We also examined attitudes to measures implemented by an amendment to the Education Act and to currently proposed measures.\n\nCzech citizens most often support measures regarding the preschool education. On the other hand, the least popular measure is a proposal to extend compulsory education to 10 years which is supported by less than a third (33 %).
Possibilities of working memory training and the influence on cognitive functions
Páchová, Anna
TITLE: The possibilities of working memory training and the influence on cognitive functions AUTHOR: Anna Páchová DEPARTMENT: Psychology SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Miroslav Rendl, CSc. ABSTRACT: The topic of the PhD thesis was to explore the possibilities of the cognitive development using the training of the basal functions. The analysis of literature showed that (1) working memory (WM) is considered to be the function, which is frequently associated with higher cognitive processes and (2) core training can improve the WM capacity and this improvement seems to be transferred to other types of memory. The transfer to higher cognitive functions (intelligence) was not confirmed unanimously. Training programs were evaluated usually in different groups of individuals but none of these studies considered the possibility of WM training in context of the socio-cultural handicap, even if low SES children achieve poorer performance in cognitive tests including tests of WM. Therefore the aim of this study was to verify the possibilities of WM training on cognitive development with special interest in low SES children. We designed a 400-minutes WM training PC program, which was applied on two groups of children with different SES (low SES - Roma children, middle/high SES - Czech children). The results showed that both groups...

Fišerová, Andrea ; Beneš, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Šmíd, Marek (referee)
In this diploma thesis with the title Children in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia I try to look at war period through children's eyes. At first I focus on children of Czech then German, Jewis and finaly Roma origin. I constantly deal with events, institutions and places that have essentially influenced their lives. In chapter about Czech children I pay attention to their education, Curatorium for youth education in Bohemia and Moravia, internment camps, the fate of children whose parents were imprisoned or executed and children from Lidice and Ležáky. In connection to German children I also don't forget the project Kinderlandverschickung. Next chapters deals with children of Jewish and Roma origin, their persecution and concentration camps. I attempt to capture daily reality of children in this period and in last two chapters deal with children's relationships with their parents and with other children.

Lomnička yesterday and today : Transformations of social structure in the village and their reflection in the lived world of Roma children
Schurdaková, Petra ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Kandert, Josef (referee)
The master thesis "Lomnička now and then: Changes of social structure in a village and its reflection in life-worlds of Gypsy children" reconstructs a life in Lomnička together with capturing a change of social structure of inhabitants by creating a past and present picture of the village. A result of the reconstruction is an environment that shows signs of a culture of poverty. This environment sets a base of living space for children in village. In short, it describes problems of the space as well as character of Gypsy family (beliefs, habits, social organization, and relationship to nature) and childhood itself. The aim is to find out how children in Lomnička reflect contemporary environment in their life-worlds. With a help of mental maps, this thesis describes life-world of children in which environment created by family and environment created by church is interconnected. Such a fact is reflected, in children's life-worlds, in positive presentation of their environment and mainly in change of their habits.
